Mornings at the Ministry
“On an intelligent woman like Ms. Musavi, a chador made her even more intimidating and powerful as she interacted with the unveiled and vulnerable men that were her colleagues.”
Mornings at the Ministry appeared in the Spring 2024 issue of Ploughshares, guest-edited by Laila Lalami, and featuring poetry and prose by Mosab Abu Toha, Nathalie Handal, January Gill O’Neil, Farah Abdessamad, Francisco Goldman, Tommy Orange, and more.
The story was inspired by the death of Mahsa Amini and Iran’s “Women, Life, Freedom,” movement.
